What’s more dangerous bears or lightning?

Thanks to Fred Kilbourne and insure.com

On average in North America, bears kill about two people a year: one each in Canada and the US. Grizzlies and Kodiaks, the large brown bears, are responsible for half of the deaths, with the smaller black bears causing the other half.  (Polar bears, though notorious stalkers, have not devoured any North Americans in the last eleven years.)

In comparison, lightning kills about 100 people in North America on an annual basis.  In a rare distinction, a Carolina man survived a lightning strke in 2006 and a bear attack in 2010. Depending on your point of view, he’s either very lucky, or very unlucky.
