In May of 2009, Travelers Guarantee Company of Canada and St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company combined the property and casualty and surety operations under one management team, known as Travelers Canada. We asked Kevin Pinto, Sr. VP of Business Insurance P&C at Travelers Canada, what challenges arise from bringing together the operations and what message they want to send to their customers.

Kevin Pinto: Our challenge has been now how do we best bring our products and specialized products and services to our customers, and we’ve created these regional structures where we can better deliver what we offer to our customers.

Remember, we had Surety, and we have financial and professional services under the Travelers Indemnity banner, and then we had business insurance which was property and casualty and auto, under the St. Paul Fire and Marine.

So we created this regional structure to better bring those entities together and be closer to our customers so we can deliver our products and services in a more efficient and effective way. We are really looking forward to bringing out the Travelers Canada message to our brokers and our customers.

We’ll be meeting with them a lot over the next little while and let them know that we have a great claims service, we have very good risk management capabilities, we have really specialized industry focused products and services that can really help them manage their own risk exposures. We’re working very hard to bring our regions together and get closer to our customers and really increase the level of service that we provide.
