The Cost of the 12 Days of Christmas
We’ve all heard the song The Twelve Days of Christmas, where an individual sings about the gifts received from his or her true love over the twelve days of Christmas. You can’t tell from the song if the recipient is happy to receive the gifts. I mean where are you going to put all those birds, and the human trafficking thing, well, that’s a whole other issue. But, if you were crazy enough to actually buy those gifts, what would it cost? Let’s have a look:
- Partridge in a pear tree – $184.99
- 2 turtle doves – $125
- 3 French hens – $150
- 4 calling birds – $519.96
- 5 golden rings – $645
- 6 geese-a-laying – $162
- 7 swans-a-swimming – $6,300
- 8 maids-a-milking – $58
- 9 ladies dancing – $6,294.03
- 10 lords-a-leaping – $4,766.70
- 11 pipers piping – $2,427.60
- 12 drummer drumming – $2,629.90
So, the total cost for all those gifts in 2011 is $24,263.18, but keep in mind that cost doesn’t represent the repetition within the song of all those gifts, so if you add that up, it actually comes to 364 gifts at a cost of $101,119.84
What do you think it would cost to insure all those items? Let us know what you think.
Happy holidays from the staff at ILSTV.
