Saskatchewan OKs claims for damages from plow winds from storm in early July
Saskatchewan is expanding the type of damage that residents can claim for as a result of a storm that ripped through central Saskatchewan on July 2.
It now will include damage caused by a plow wind, which had been previously excluded by the government.
People who had claimed for damages caused by the plow wind, and had their claims denied, will have to reapply.
Severe weather battered several communities across the province on that day.
It spawned a tornado that destroyed a dozen homes and damaged others on the Kawacatoose reserve near Raymore, Sask.
No one was injured.
In Prince Albert, the storm downed trees, damaged vehicles, flooded streets and knocked out power.
In Saskatoon, there was widespread flooding.
