Rider Pride extends to Saskatchewan license plates

In May 2010, Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) introduced Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club license plates for fans in the province. Since then, SGI has filled roughly 22,000 orders, resulting in a profit of over $585,000 for the football club.

The Saskatchewan Roughrider license plate is recognized by an R followed by four numbers.

“The people of Saskatchewan’s support of the Riders is truly spectacular,” said Minister Responsible for SGI Tim McMillan. “Every plate sold helps the Riders financially and demonstrates the fans’ dedication to this great team.”

“We are very appreciative of SGI for providing fans with this unique way to show their Rider pride,” said Saskatchewan Roughriders President and CEO Jim Hopson. “Whether it’s cheering us on at a game, or driving around with a Rider plate, we thank the people of Saskatchewan for their continued support of our team.”

Rider plates are recognized by an R followed by four numbers. They are available through any SGI motor license issuer in the province at a cost of $50 plus GST. For fans wanting a personalized Rider license plate there is an additional cost of $75 plus GST, for a total of $125 plus GST.

As of press time, the Roughriders are last in the West Division, at four wins and eight losses.
