Narrator: Trying to sell or purchase a business can be a difficult, cumbersome and often complex process. In the final installment of this short series on the merger and acquisition industry, host Renate Mueller, the President of Renate M. Mueller Consultants Inc., explains how her company helps brokerages enhance their profitability.
Renate Mueller: Each insurance brokerage is different. So we would take a look at what it is they are doing; look at their profitability, break it down into segments. Perhaps their ratio is not high in one area such as personal lines vs. auto plan or commercial lines.
So we would work with a client to see how we could better build up that particular book of business or line of business, or productivity; or maybe they need to bring in producers to help them expand. Perhaps the owner is not, as a manager, not necessarily a producer, but he or she might not be the type to go and be salespeople. Not every manager/owner is a salesperson.
So we would work with them to develop the growth strategies and then hopefully increase the bottom line so hopefully the bottom line will grow and the value will be enhanced
