Oklahoma Insurance Department spokesman resigns after sending vulgar email

The Oklahoma Insurance Department’s spokesperson resigned last week after sending an official email to hundreds of people that contained a slang term for breasts.

The email, called “an unauthorized draft of an email” by the Department, was sent to insurance agents and media across the state ahead of the upcoming National Tornado Preparedness Summit. The message sought nominations for various awards and included criteria for award candidates. The criteria for the Insurance Commissioner’s Award said it would be presented to the “girl with the biggest t*ts.”

Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak reported that the department employee that generated text for an email containing inappropriate language took responsibility for his actions and has resigned.

Doak stated that the inappropriate language used in this email is not representative of the “high character of the employees of the Insurance Department.”

“We sincerely apologize,” Doak stated, “and now consider this matter closed and look forward to continuing, without further interruption, to representing the people of Oklahoma and planning for the success of the approaching National Tornado Preparedness Summit.”

Tulsa, Oklahoma newspaper Tulsa World has a copy of the email and subsequent corrections posted here.  (PDF)
