With the popularity of Apple’s mobile digital devices such as the iPhone, and iPad ever increasing, Keal Technology has announced the compatibility of their broker management systems such as sigXP and comXP, with these devices, allowing brokers to virtually work from anywhere. ILSTV caught up with John Brezina, Operations Manager for Keal Technology, to learn more.
John Brezina: Today we wanted to talk about some of the latest technology with our hosting environment, our ASP. What I have with me today is an iPad and I just want to show is how we’ve added a connector to an environment so that people can work on the road and access their applications. Not only their email but their applications including comXP and SigXP, and work directly on the system from wherever they happen to be.
This iPad is not 3 or 4G enabled. It’s just on a wireless connected to the hotel internet. We have established a very simple connection. We went to the app store and downloaded the Citrix receiver; a very simple configuration and we are connected. It’s a very simple technology, very simple connection in allowing our customers on the road to work from anywhere.
That’s the idea. Just the flexibility of being able to work from wherever you happen to be, and not necessarily dependent on a heavy Notepad computer. And again, iPads offer the 3G, 4G connectivity, so even without internet access through a wireless connection, if it’s 4G enabled they can do it from anywhere.
So the Citrix Receiver app was downloaded and after a very simple configuration there’s the Keal portal. It will ask for your password and I’m not going to show you mine. You have a list of all applications that are configured and you can add them very simply to your workspace. So if there are a few you work with on a regular basis, now we have our most common applications. We have Outlook, so you can get into your emails. You can zoom in; all the standard iPad functionality. Take a look at an email. Open attachments. Read. Scroll. All the standard. We go back to our work space. We can launch SipXP. Log in and we now have the familiar view of our SigXP work space. We can open up a customer. We can browse. We can find the policy we are interested in. This is the exact same view as if they were working on their desk top or lap top from the office. We can go back to our work space again. We can open up Microsoft Word. Once the application is open . . . it’s in real time. And there we go. It’s very slick technology. Very simple interface to get people connected from wherever they are.
