For passengers who decide mid-trip, or even mid-flight, that forgetting travel insurance was a bad idea, it’s now possible to purchase coverage while at high altitudes.
UK airline easyJet has launched the first ever in-flight travel insurance service.
The airline has launched the pioneering service after it was revealed that an astonishing one in five UK holidaymakers jets off on holiday uninsured – the equivalent of at least 20 -30 people per flight.
Alongside their in-flight meal and duty free, easyJet passengers who have forgotten to purchase travel insurance can now buy it from the comfort of their plane seat. Holidaymakers can choose from a five-day or 14-day adult single trip European policy which covers medical emergencies, loss of baggage and passport, personal accident and personal liability.
Nick Hughes, Head of Ancillaries for easyJet, says: “By not taking out adequate travel insurance, Brits are at risk of paying extortionate medical bills whilst abroad.
“We want to ensure that our customers remember their holiday for all the right reasons. The launch of our in-flight insurance service is part of our ongoing commitment to providing easyJet customers with convenient, quality cover that comes at a price to suit their budget.”
easyJet passengers requesting travel insurance on board can choose from two packages, 5-days and 14-days with prices starting from £15.00 (CAD $24.31) per person. Customers will then be presented with a pack, which includes the policy wording, and important information such as medical assistance and claims telephone numbers.
