Learning Development Specialist

The Learning and Development team at Western Financial Group is looking for a Learning & Development Specialist to join their Head Office team in High River. Reporting to the Manager – Learning and Development, this position will work in conjunction with the existing Learning & Development team to design, develop and deliver learning programs for all Western Financial Group employees. The successful candidate in this role will facilitate various learning programs, work with internal and external subject matter experts.
About the Opportunity
• Consult and collaborate with customers to analyze and assess training needs and recognize potential learning opportunities
• Recognize customer concerns/issues and work collaboratively with the Learning & Development Manager to provide solutions
• Work closely with the business to determine training requirements
• Facilitate various training sessions as required using adult learning practices and accelerated learning techniques
• Perform ongoing assessment of WFG standard requirements for training vendors and evaluate all vendors on an annual basis to ensure they continue to meet desired criteria
• Develop and deliver training in a variety of delivery methods including classroom, webinar, online and West TV
• Create learning tools to compliment programs as needed including job aids, workbooks, handouts, related web links, etc.
About You
• Experience in the Insurance Industry is essential
• Progressive experience in a learning design, development and delivery role
• Post secondary experience in a related discipline considered an asset
• Experience with TAM (The Agency Manager) is a definite asset
• Vendor management experience an asset
• Intermediate Microsoft Office computer software skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills to liaise with a diverse group of employees, departments and external customers
• A high level of personal accountability for quality and results
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and also effectively as part of a team
• Excellent facilitation and presentation skills
• NOTE: Potential to travel up to 40%
