We are currently recruiting for an In-House Underwriting Manager in our Burnaby (Henning) location!

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee general management/administration of In-House Underwriting Facilities and Programs:
  • Economical In House Facility (IHF)
  • Sovereign IHF
  • Lloyd’s IHF (3 facilities:  HD999/157 and PSF HD577/HD583/130ABC)
  • Work on Insolvency, Mining and new in-house programs as they come up
  • BI&I Machinery Breakdown
  • Aviva Machinery Breakdown
  • Aviva Surety Miscellaneous Bonds / POA
  • Axa Strata Volunteer Accident

• Underwrite new, renewal, rewrite business, cancellations and endorsements
• Work with Marketing teams and Producers on risk placements on the IHF’s
• Grow in-house facilities profitability
• Review and Monitor company figures, commitments, earthquake limits and loss ratios
• Update Underwriting Guidelines, info/instruction summaries for Marketing team
• Audits (prepare and participate with auditors, reply to requests)
• Participate in renewal process of IHF and in periodic meetings as required
• Review book of business to see if current accounts can be re-written through our in-house facilities
• Liaise with SMART Dept and Marketing teams on initiatives to increase the in-house placements
• Oversee Platinum ProBusiness Policy Wordings, Extensions and Additional Coverage’s
  • Review and improvement requests/updates as required

• Policy Works
  • Work with Commercial operations team to set-up and update of ISSUE mode templates for IHF
    • Platinum ProBusiness Commercial Package
    • Lloyds Builders’ Risk Policy
    • Lloyds Insolvency Policy
    • Economical Podiatry program

• Liaise with Commercial Operations Manager regarding process and procedures (policy issuance, bordereaux, workflows, Lineage)

Qualifications/Characteristics:

• 5 years commercial insurance experience, minimum
• Prior experience in underwriting, program administration or in house facilities
• Level 2 or greater
• Ability to balance underwriting requirements/rules while growing the book of business
• Sense of urgency and entrepreneurial
