A little ticked to read in the morning news the tax payers have a $70,000 bill for politians having a retreat. Rob Renner is receiving $800,00.00 plus because he is stepping down. The govn. wants me to work longer for the peanuts they hand out and even the peanuts will be fewer. Do they not realize they will have 90% of us Baby Boomers on Welfare or do they plan on scrapping Welfare as well. The streets are going to be a sad place littered with homeless elderly.

It's nice of this government to think that those set to retire are the same people that have supported the fund for the past 45 years are prepared to have to alter their retirement plans by 2 years to adjust the current funding costs. I don't see any of the politicians complaining about how well off they will be with their pentions padded with only having to "serve" for only a short period. Let's not forget all the "perks" they enjoyed while they were in Ottawa. A tax free portion of their income plus an expense allowance that was always maxed out and their right to call up a helicopter or private jet to get them to where they just had to be, all at tax payers expense. I think they should be taking a closer look as to where they should be making cuts to top up the Old Age Security and leave the ones who are responsible for the fund in the first place.

Your assessment is dead-on Laurie. This course is aimed at new office employees who don't have a lot of 'real world' experience. Sometimes common sense isn't so common. Thanks for your post.

I haven't taken it yet but it sounds like the perfect course to use as an introductory for any new office employees, especially those that haven't worked in an office environment with numerous personality types.

The old Charter of Rights issue: The Charter of Rights -- of ALL, not ONE! Drunk drivers, murders, rapists and all other forms of corruption which cause others trauma are done by the very individuals who feel they are justified by their "Rights" under the Charter of Rights. Our rights are a gift as a result of sacrifices of our forefathers and should not be taken lightly. Your right as a Citizen of Canada are to choose to follow the laws of this country to ensure the safety and well being of your fellow citizens. Now that IS YOUR RIGHT, to choose what will you do from today forward!

Brian does make a point - this feels more like "proving your innocence" which is not what Canadian law should stand for. I agree that drunk driving is unacceptable and takes many lives, but all laws and legislation must be aligned with our Charter, otherwise we will start to sacrifice our individual rights, and that could be a dangerous slippery slope.

Brian, It's a violation of the public's safety to not do this. If they pull you over and you're sober, whatever, you'll be 5 minutes behind schedule. If they pull you over and you're sauced, lives can be saved. Driving is not a right, it's a privilege.

This is a violation of our rights and freedoms. I have the right to not be searched without reason or detained arbitrarily. Plus the police could use taxpayers' money in a better manner than arbitrarily stopping people to make them prove their innocence of a crime. It's not even worth it if it saves a life. More lives could be saved elsewhere with the same amount of money being used I'm sure. This is just overkill. You should be suspected before a search.

This would violate our fundamental rights according to the Canadian Charter of Rights & Freedoms:

8. Everyone has the right to be secure against unreasonable search or seizure.

9. Everyone has the right not to be arbitrarily detained or imprisoned. (Source: http://laws.justice.gc.ca/eng/charter/page-1.html#l_I:s_1)

I hope they turn this down. It's a waste of money and a violation of rights. The police could be saving lives more efficiently elsewhere.

Surely this is an indication that consumers are sick and tired of receiving unsolicited direct mail. Also that Insurers are finally waking up to the reality that most of the direct mail, and therefore their marketing budget, goes in the blue box!Consumers are smart enough to find the products they need without the help of marketing "experts".

I do not have any sympathy for truck drivers as they are the most dangerous drivers on the road. They are more dangerous than people in smaller vehicles. They speed, they tailgate, they cut into traffic almost always causing accidents as they do not ever shoulder check, they run lights, & that is all the flipping time, they are road hogs, always staying in the fast lane, they complain about spmaller vehicles when they should drive properly knowing they are bigger and could kill someone which they use expecting you to make room when they want to do there stupid dangerous manouvers.

As a single father of 2 daughters, sacrifices had to be made. When it came to errands and what took up my non working hours, priorities were set, and breaks were taken. When things got overwhelming I always remembered the story of airline emergencies..."You put the oxygen mask on yourself first so that you can safely put them on your children".
