Cavemen, geckos, crash-test dummies and other insurance-related spokescreatures
With the news that Vince and Larry have retired from their roles as spokespeople dummies for the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (see the news here), you’ve got to stop for a second and think about what these two did in their 25 year career.
As U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said: “They are a part of American culture and became household names while educating the public on seat belt use. Their message still holds true today.”
They did their jobs and educated and informed the public. Who else has?
PS – What about strokes of genius in marketing mascots for Canadian insurance companies?

The best insurance spokesman is Dennis Haysbert, he does the All State Commercials.
Hi Tim, he is also a good spokesman. I also like Allstate’s new Mayhem series of ads. Here, as an example, is the Pink SUV Mayhem ad:

Love the Geico ones.
But when you think about it, nothing beats a dummie for veracity.
