A.P. Reid Insurance named NS Brokerage of the Year
The Insurance Brokers Association of Nova Scotia (IBANS) celebrated excellence in the insurance industry with its 2011 IBANS Insurance Awards.
“This is an opportunity to celebrate excellence in our profession,” says Karen Slaunwhite, IBANS executive director. “Award winners have been selected because they best represent the value and commitment of all brokers. As a profession, insurance brokers set the bar high in all that they do, whether advising clients or giving back to their communities. They give 100 per cent.”
A.P. Reid Insurance Stores Limited was presented with the Brokerage of the Year Award. IBANS said that this award is presented to an IBANS member brokerage that is active in both the industry and wider community, supports the broker distribution network and encourages the professional development of their staff.
A.P. Reid Insurance said the recognition comes after a successful 2010, which saw a number of landmarks for the company: Jamie Reid succeeded his mother Aileen Reid, founder of the company, as CEO; the brokerage entered into a corporate partnership with the Canadian Red Cross, and new offices opening up in New Glasgow and Cape Breton.
Other awards presented by IBANS include:
Client Service Award to Stephen Zwicker, Salvatore Insurance Brokers Limited. This award honours an individual working within an IBANS member brokerage that goes above and beyond to ensure their clients receive the best customer service.
Professional Development Award to Salvatore Insurance Brokers Limited for being the brokerage that best promotes and encourages the professional development of their staff. They also exhibit a willingness to foster an environment supportive to the educational needs of their staff.
Young Broker of the Year to Sean Murray, WCL Bauld Insurance. The award honours a broker under 40 who has made significant strides in professional development over the past year. IBANS said Sean has clearly demonstrated his commitment to the industry through his work with the IBANS Young Broker Network as well as his willingness to get involved in other industry events and community organizations.
Volunteer Service Award to Bonnie Smith, Macdonald Chisholm Trask Insurance. This award is presented to an individual who inspires the spirit of volunteerism in others and participates in activities that positively contribute to the quality of life for their communities.
Insurance Representative of the Year to Lynne Gerhardt, The Dominion. IBANS says this award recognizes an individual for their superior product and industry knowledge, ability to foster the broker/company relationship, their responsiveness to member brokers needs in addition to their participation in the insurance industry and wider community.
