N.S. injury cap: submission from IBANS
Many people and organizations have made submissions to the Superintendent of Insurance as part of the Nova Scotia government’s Minor Injury Cap Review process.
According to its submission, the Insurance Brokers Association of Nova Scotia (IBANS) says the minor injury cap has “not been an issue for the vast majority of consumers, even consumers who have had the misfortune to be involved in an automobile collision.”
The submission refers to an IBANS member poll in which 96% of respondents reported “no negative feedback” to the cap.
“IBANS maintains that limits on pain and suffering awards are warranted and those limits have kept automobile insurance premiums affordable for Nova Scotians,” the Association says.
A broader review of the province’s auto insurance system is expected later this year.
