Announcer: The insurance industry is all to aware of the impending human resources crisis. ILSTV asked Renate Mueller, President of AMAC Consultants Inc. if the industry is doing enough to attract talented young people.
Renate Mueller: I think that insurance brokers . . . the whole industry has not done enough to market the opportunities of an insurance career. I think we’re getting into more higher unemployment. The unemployment in British Columbia, all across Canada has gone up. For the first time I see a human pool coming available as future employees of insurance firms. Before, insurance firms were having a tough time staffing their offices. Now all of a sudden we have an opportunity to again to bring the younger people who are unemployed into this sector and I think that brings new talent in and I think it brings in succession planning. So eventually these will be the managers of the future and owners of the future.
