A San Francisco man who had more than 1.8 million stolen bank and credit card numbers on his computers has been sentenced to 13 years in federal prison and $27.5 million in restitution.

Thirty-seven-year-old Max Ray Vision pleaded guilty in June to his role in an online clearinghouse where identity thieves shared stolen information. Vision, who has legally changed his last name from Butler, has been in custody since authorities raided his apartment in September 2007.

Sentencing guidelines called for Vision to spend at least 30 years in prison, but prosecutors asked for a lighter sentence because Vision has co-operated with authorities. Details of his co-operation are under seal.
